The newly formed jazz and electronic trio Lyder debuts on Jazz-o-Tech with a superb EP that showcases their signature sound across four new tracks.

This collective is made up of three significant artists from the German scene: Lindsey Wang aka Polygonia who provides live electronics, vocals and violin, Niklas Bühler aka Delusional Circuits who plays piano and live electronics, and Moritz Stahl aka odizouu of the Munich based electronic jazz band Ark Noir, who plays sax and electronics.

They have come together through a fascination for instrumental jazz playing practice and a love of electronic music production. They put that together on this new EP as they combine jazz and techno by fusing improvisation, live-looping and sound effects into an immersive electro-acoustic experience. It results in a broad sound that takes in everything from harmonic and emotional soundscapes to fast, driving rhythms in a hypnotic and ever-evolving fashion.

'Sea of Thought' opens up with seven minutes of deeply immersive sounds, elastic bass and cavernous dub chambers. Fluttering keys float up top next to moody sax motifs, tender piano chords bring the soul and the gentle rhythms soothe the mind. Angelic wordless vocals form the main feature of the track as they drift in the open space and add further allure and beauty. 'Contemplation' is another dreamy sound world with deft harmonies and wispy melodies that hang in the air next to edgy saxophone sounds. There is class in the strings and texture in the electronics which make this an avant-guard and alluring world of sound.

The beauty and invention continue on 'Frantic Circles', but this time with a pulsing and powerful techno rhythm driving forward beneath more twisted sax sounds, unhinged horns and prickly percussive patterns. It's a perfect piece of jazz-techno. The haunting 'Helicrisyum' closes by drawing you in deep to watery electronics, angelic vocal sounds and gorgeous jazz keys. Dynamic bass drives on as the beautiful melodies bring heart-aching emotion.

This is a stunning new EP from this hotly-tipped and hugely talented new Lyder trio.
